Takahiro Ochiya’s Biography

Takahiro Ochiya, Chief, National Cancer Center Research Institute Japan

Dr. Ochiya carried a councilor of Japanese Cancer Association. After he got Ph.D. in 1988 in Osaka University and then went to do a post-doc at La Jolla Cancer Research (SF Burnham Institute for Medical Research), CA, USA. Dr. Ochiya’s lab focuses the development of novel animal models, methods, and strategies to study cancer development and metastasis. Especially, current focuses are siRNA- and microRNA-based therapy and exosome-mediated tumor metastasis. Dr. Ochiya has authored more than 260 peer-reviewed publications including 40 review articles, holds 24 Japan and 12 U.S. & Europe patents, and contributed to several books on stem cells, Extracellular vesicles, and RNAi medicine. Dr. Ochiya is a chief scientist of current Japan project of the Development of Diagnostic Technology for Detection of miRNA in Body Fluids (supported by NEDO/AMED).
