Jane Ru Choi’s Biography

Jane Ru Choi, Research Fellow, University of British Columbia

Dr. Jane Ru Choi received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from University of Malaya, Malaysia. She is currently a Research Fellow at The University of British Columbia, Canada. Her research interests include cell and molecular biology, analytical chemistry, food technologies and point-of-care diagnostics. Her works include evaluation of the effect of cryopreservation and different culture conditions on human stem cells and development of microfluidic devices for clinical diagnosis, environmental monitoring and food safety analysis.

Thread-based Microfluidic Device Modified with Silicone for Sensitive Immunoassay

Silicone can be tuned to manipulate the fluid flow in thread-based microfluidic devices. Diluted silicone enables optimum interaction between antigen and antibody and enhances the detection sensitivity. This work expands the application of silicone in microfluidics for various applications.
