Introduction:
Following the previous success of the Biotech Horizon series, Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization (HKBIO) is now hosting the 2018 Hong Kong Biotech Horizons : Annual Global Biotech Summit (AGBS), a 5 day, all-inclusive conference held on September 20th – 24th . This year we will be exploring the Greater Bay Area, highlighting major metropolitan cities such as Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Zhongshan.
The mobile conference starts in Hong Kong, Asia’s world city where it is known for its diverse population accompanied with its “East meets West” culture. Here you will have the chance to see just how densely packed the city is by experiencing the bustling city in 3 days, living in the L’hotel Nina in Tsuen Wan, located only 20 minutes away from the central business district. During the day a symposium session will take place, accompanied by various keynote speakers, showcasing renown industry executives in biotechnological sciences. An early night’s sleep is recommended as we will be travelling into Shenzhen the next morning for a busy day in one of China’s fastest growing cities.
We will be arriving at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Shenzhen at approximately 08:00 am, with a packed day focusing on medicinal and pharmaceutical sciences featuring professors, and acclaimed academicians such as Bernard Roizman from the University of Chicago. Situated directly north of the Hong Kong border, Shenzhen acts as a major financial centre and offers a variety of innovative industries of which you will have a chance to observe and understand first-hand.
Day 3 will be held in Zhongshan, located in the west side of the Pearl River, opposite of Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Local government officials will be present to introduce Zhongshan’s rich local culture and its beautiful cityscape. After the main event consisting of keynote lectures and a symposium session, there will be a tour of the famous Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge,one of the world’s longest fixed links and a major landmark in the area.
Day 4 and 5 are situated back in Hong Kong for a final day of symposium sessions and keynote lectures, held in the L’Hotel, with a social/networking event with all registered guests and speakers, a time for you to get to know respective peers in an elite network of biotech related industries. Our final day is focused on creating potential biotech investment opportunities, with firm pitching sessions and an investment forum taking place. This will be held in the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks, Hong Kong’s most concentrated area of innovation in multiple sectors.
